Thomas Clark and Mary Giberson

Thomas Clark was born October 7, 1758, the son of Thomas and Hannah Clark. He died March 28, 1827 at 9:00 in the evening.
Thomas was born, lived, and died at Clarks Landing. Thomas married Mary Giberson, August 17, 1797, She was born May 8, 1780. Mary died December 24,1845. Both Thomas and Mary are buried in the Churchyard Burying Grounds.

He owned and tilled until the time of his death. His was one of the most prosperous farms ever worked in Atlantic County. New Jersey was then a slave state, and he owned many slaves. In his pasture lands could be seen fifty to one hundred head of cattle, besides large flocks of sheep, and swine. The place is now owned by Thomas Weber.

Mary was the daughter of James Giberson, b 1747, d 1836. Pvt NJ Troops, under Captains Higbee and Estill, under Col Somers. He was a wit for uncle's will 1793.

Thomas is approved as a patriot by DAR, as a patriot in the NJ Troops. Thomas fought in the American Revolution along with his 3 brothers and father. Thomas was a Private in the New Jersey Unit at the time of the Revolutionary War.

Thomas and Mary lived at Clarks Landing, New Jersey. It was settled by the Clark family in the 1600's. It is located on the banks of the Mullica River within the present city limits of Egg Harbor, New Jersey. His three brothers immigrated west, but Thomas lived his whole life on the homestead at Clarks Landing.
